Club Rules and Insurance require that all junior members must wear a helmet at all times while mounted on their horse at club functions. All members attending a show are required to wear a number while mounted. Please famiiliarize yourself with club rules by obtaining them at a meeting reading them on the website and Fun Day rules are posted at every Fun Day.

Still Time to Plan more Events for Next Year! Volunteer to organize or help!

Suggestions are: Used Tack Sale, Designated Trail Rides, Heritage Qualifier Schooling Show, Fun Show(s), Winter Riding, Poker Ride(s), Battle Royal and clinics. We need members input now in order to schedule our calendar of events for 2009.

HCBC Insurance coverage and club membership can be obtained at any AERC sponsored event.

Club Meeting News – This section of the newsletter will be to inform you of what took place during the meetings, both executive and general.

Trail Riding Log – This is your last chance to hand in your trail riding hours at the December meeting.

Voting – Members are asked to attend this meeting not only for the importance of items for the AGM, but also to vote for  All Round Participant – this is a member who rides and volunteers,  and Citizenship – this is for a member who may or may not ride, but is an active member and volunteers.

Winter Riding – As of this date it is unknown whether we will have access to the agriplex during the month of February. Apparently a group of BMX bike racers has approached Parks and Rec about renting the Agriplex through Dec-Feb. A final decision will not be known until December 10th. Hopefully we’ll have an answer for the December newsletter.

Chamber of Commerce Xmas Tree Decorating – Ursula McHugh and Mary Nairn were busily decorating the tree for the riding club display on November 30th.  Unfortunately ye olde editor didn’t get information pamphlets made up for the display, but I promise there will be a poster or some such dropped off this week!

Chamber of Commerce Donation – A donation by the club in the amount of $200 to thank the Chamber for the use of their building for our meetings was approved

Concession – We’ll need someone to take over running the concession at Fun Days next year.

Trophies – Please bring your trophies to the next meeting, or turn them in to Carolyn Farris before the end of December. Awards committee consists of Carolyn Farris, Ursula McHugh and Dani Odiorne.

Nominating Committee – Brenda will be phoning to harass certain members about letting their names stand for the executive or director. Just remember if everyone thinks someone else can do it, we may not have anyone to fill positions. If you want to see changes within the club, then you should be prepared to step up to the plate and help implement them. Don’t want to take on a position cause you don’t know what you’re doing….how do you think the rest of us got there? There are plenty of members to help you out. So come on folks, if you’re interested in holding one of the positions please feel free to give me a call!

Proposed by-law amendments/ AGM issues – Discussions were held on opening up the Fun Days to non members, adding classes to fun days, club fees, volunteer requirements and deletion of the AERC Ambassador.

Fun Days – Discussion was held on allowing non-members to participate. Awarding points was discussed and was decided to keep points system in place as is, even with non members participating, although non members would not receive points. Adding additional English and western classes will be implemented, but these will be non-point classes.

Volunteer Hours – A decision was made to not allow non-member volunteers to donate their hours to members. Carolyn Farris volunteered to organize ‘make work’ projects for junior members if they  needed to garner hours for year end awards.

AERC Ambassador – A discussion was held and it will be forwarded for deletion at AGM

Club Fees – Fees to remain at $20 for individual, $40 for family.

AGM Items - This is notification of items that will be brought forward for consideration and possible changes at AGM meeting. These items will be fully discussed and determined if they will be brought to the AGM for actual enactment. Please look over the attached AGM item list and come prepared to discuss and decide on what you would like to see taken to the AGM for revision or additions.

a. Regulations/General Rules be amended to have item #12 re-worded to “Participation is open but all entrants must have proof of HCBC membership and non members will be charged a minimum of club membership plus fun day cost. Non member’s points will not count for awards.

b. Item 13 have the addition...Additional classes may be offered but will not count for awards.

c. Item 14 have the additiona...based on actual placing only for members

d. Deletion of item 24 from the bylaws

e. Membership fees to be kept the same.

BLURB FROM THE EDITOR:

And again, I am running out of time. I’ve been super busy at work and at home, and the time just seems to fly by. With no snow on the ground as of December 3, it sure doesn’t seem like Xmas is even close. I walk into a mall and hear Xmas music and wonder “what the heck”, why are they playing that music? So, don’t forget, even if you like to ski, your horses probably aren’t too talented at it. Time to get those overdue shoes removed….Keep riding through the winter, snowy fields are a much softer landing than hard dirt or pavement. For those who want to ride throughout the winter, good for you! Borium studded shoes are great, or purchase some Simple Boots by Cavallo, or Easy Boots, and insert studs into them, sure works great, and easy to get on and off. Make the effort to get to the meeting in December, it’s important and we’d love to see you.
